About Motion Control

Motion Control was founded in 1993 with a clear idea: to make people's lives easier and better through electronics. The first product was a head-controlled computer mouse based on gyro technology, developed so that a completely paralysed friend of the company's current owner could use a computer. The gyro symbol still lives on in our logo – as a reminder of where it all began.

Today, Motion Control is a technical specialist company that helps businesses develop, maintain and future-proof advanced electronics and power systems. Our expertise spans electronics development, repair and redesign, custom test equipment, international field service and technical training.

In the early 2000s, the current owner and CEO Christer Gerdtman took over the company. With his background as an electronics engineer and Licentiate of Philosophy in embedded systems, he broadened the business from health electronics to industrial electronics and technical consulting services.

What began with hiring out electronics engineers soon grew into full responsibility for complex development projects. Over the years, Motion Control has supported customers all the way from concept, design and prototype to testing, verification and CE marking. We are often engaged when requirements are demanding, standard solutions are not enough, or a technical project has stalled.

A consulting assignment in commissioning of HVDC valve halls became the starting point for our international field service area. Since then, we have carried out more than a hundred installation and service projects within critical power infrastructure. Our specialists have worked in countries including Norway, England, France, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan with assembly, commissioning, service, fault finding and technical supervision – both onshore and offshore.

Our deep knowledge of older electronic systems, obsolescence and redesigns has also created a strong collaboration with the rail sector. Today, we run a specialised rail electronics workshop focused on fault finding, repair, refurbishment and redesign, primarily of power electronics. By extending the life of existing systems, we help our customers reduce costs, avoid downtime and use their resources more sustainably.

Knowledge and learning are a natural part of our culture. We work continuously with internal competence development and collaborate with vocational colleges, universities and institutes of technology. We regularly host interns and thesis workers and offer technical training for both companies and educational providers.

At Motion Control, electronics engineers and technicians from several countries work together. Many joined us through a thesis project or an LIA placement and have since grown within the company. We are united by curiosity, precision and the drive to solve difficult problems. Structured working methods, traceability and correct documentation are a natural part of everything we do.

Today, Motion Control consists of four business areas: electronics development, the rail electronics workshop, international field service and technical training. Together, they give us an unusually broad capability to take on complex technical challenges – from concept and design to installation, fault finding and long-term operation.
